VIDEO TEACHINGS ABOUT LIVING CONTEMPLATIVELY

Welcome to this section of our church's website.  As the name indicates, The Community of the Paschal Mystery focuses on the passion of our Lord, who died and was resurrected.  This transformation helps us to understand that our life's journey entails the same trajectory and transformation; consenting to the Holy Spirit's work of dismantling the false self thus giving rise to the emergence of the true self, the imago dei.  We embark upon this transformative process through:

  1. centering prayer and the difficult work of addressing the emotional centers for happiness (esteem/affection, security/survival, power/control);
  2. the study of the rich tapestry of the contemplative Christian tradition (ancient and contemporary), as well as other religious traditions; and
  3. the application of what we discover to our daily lives.  The internal work we engage, must, if it is authentic, marry the call to serve others in the world.  Such is but a reflection of what it means for us to be complete as our Father is complete (Matthew 5:48).

For sure it is a transformation of a life time.  Serving in partnership with Contemplative Outreach Piedmont North Carolina, we are a community of individuals from within and beyond the walls of St. Paul's offering a variety of resources and opportunities to assist you.  Listen to the Spirit that prays within you with sighs too deep for words (Romans 5:26) and come walk with us in the Spirit.  Pax, Fr. Brad
