Plant a Seed,

Leave a Legacy

The Book of Common Prayer tells us that while we’re in good health

we should prepare for the transfer of our worldly goods to our

families and, if able, to our church. (BCP, page 445)

Remembering our past, planning for the future….

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is here for us through the grace of God--and from the hard work and generosity of those who sit in our familiar pews now and those who have come before us. As good stewards of God’s gifts, we are expected and encouraged to do our part to preserve and protect St. Paul’s and its grounds for future generations.

How can we preserve, protect and enhance St. Paul’s for our children and those who will follow? Weekly and monthly pledges are important, but we must also consider what can be done on a long-term basis. Long-term planning will ensure a strong future for St. Paul’s and the parishioners who will follow us.

To aid in establishing long-term financial support, St. Paul’s has established a planned giving program. This program features St. Paul’s Episcopal Church General Endowment Fund. This fund resides within the Foundation for the Carolinas, a solid reliable organization that invests and protects funds on behalf of churches and other organizations in the region.

Through planned giving initiatives, funds are deposited into the church’s Endowment. Income from invested funds, not the funds themselves, can then be spent for the well-being of the parish church. The principal remains untouched, ensuring a future return for the church. The income generated from the Endowment can then be used to support church programs, building and grounds, outreach and other needs and dreams of the church.

There are many reasons to consider giving to the Endowment of St. Paul’s. Here are just a few:

  • Giving to the church will fulfill a desire to enhance the church’s future.
  • Gifts made now can have a long-term impact on the church.
  • There can be significant tax savings for the donor.

How can I contribute to the endowment?

You may support and invest in the future of St. Paul’s by contributing to the Endowment. Some examples of how you can do this are:

  • Making an outright gift
  • Remembering St. Paul’s in your will
  • Making the church a beneficiary in an insurance policy or proceeds from an IRA or 401(k)
  • Giving stocks and/or securities
  • Creating an annuity or special trust

What do I do if I am interested in giving?

You can begin the process by having a conversation with a Vestry member, a member of the Charitable Gifts Committee, or the Rector. Before deciding on a gift, always seek the advice of a trusted and reputable tax and legal advisor.

Planned giving can be a ministry. We are stewards of what God has provided. He has given us free will to manage our time, energy and resources. We can join others at St. Paul’s in this ministry and make a lasting impact on generations to come.
